Delivering EYFS

How can EYFS benefit your child?

As early year's practitioners, we can play a key role in working with you to support your children. EYFS can help to promote physical, mental and emotional health and well-being. Play underpins the delivery of all the EYFS, including both indoor and outdoor play.

Phonic learning

As early year's practitioners, we encourage linking sounds to letters, as well as naming and sounding the letters of the alphabet. The children will phonetically make plausible attempts at more complex words. Get in touch with us in Whetstone to find out more about phonic learning.
Child-centred approach

Child-Centred Approach

The learning environment we provide supports the children as active learners and provokes their interest and inquiry. It takes account of children as individual, as well as their common patterns of learning. We take time to get to know each child as an individual. At all times we have to be constantly aware of what use the children are making of the activities and materials provided, so that we can judge the right time to step in and lead them forward, by asking open-ended questions, making suggestions, providing relevant knowledge, information and vocabulary or additional materials and resources. We spend a great deal of time listening to the talking with the children as they play.

Spontaneous experience

Spontaneous experience

At Academy 4 Kids Day Nursery, we believe that providing well-planned experiences based on spontaneous play is of great importance. This is an effective way of supporting your child to learn with both enjoyment and challenge, indoors and outdoors.

"Our son has a complex form of epilepsy and has had various types of seizures since he was a few months old. He has been at Academy 4 Kids since he was one year old until age 4. The staff at Academy 4 Kids have been very supportive and adaptive throughout all the changes to his condition and his varying needs over the last 3 years. They dealt competently with all his medical requirements and with the support of his physiotherapist incorporate additional exercises into his daily activities. They have ensured staff are well trained and our son receives all the support he requires to fully enjoy the nursery as his friends do. The nursery itself is in a beautiful setting, with great playgrounds and a pretty woodland area for the children to explore. Our daughter (with no additional needs) also attended Academy 4 Kids and thrived in the lovely environment created there."
